The Top 3 Causes of Car Accidents in America

Roughly 10 million people are involved in car accidents annually. But the top reason may surprise you.

#3: Drunk Driving
Paying for a cab is way better than risking the consequences of getting a DUI, paying repair costs for an accident, and potentially losing your life or taking someone else's. Most people knows this, yet it is still in the top three causes for car accidents.

#2: Speeding
Most of the time, speeding is unnecessary. If it is imperative that you be somewhere on time, plan ahead and make sure you have plenty of time to get there. Prepare for bad traffic and unexpected events. If you're already late, most likely the most time you will gain is a couple minutes. It's not worth the reckless driving or reduced reaction time and being in an accident.

#1: Distracted Driving
Calling, talking, eating, grooming, reading, dancing -- all of these distractions that keep your full concentration from being on the road is the number one cause of car accidents. You are 4 times more likely to get in an accident if you are using a hand-held device, and 23 TIMES more likely to be in an accident if you are texting. Be aware of your surroundings!
